A nomadic folk/neo-jug duo crisscrossing the country on a seemingly non-stop tour, Them Travelin' Birds float into Frankfort this June.
Formed in Oakland, California, Them Travelin' Birds is comprised of sultry-voiced siren, Cassandra O'Connor and banjo shredder-extraordinaire, Tracy Hui.
During the past year the duo has played over 200 shows in 40 states - endearing audiences with their jazzy roots and west coast-punkgrass approach to Americana.
Reviews of Them Travelin' Birds:
"...plays music that seemed to seep up from some primordial Appalachian swamp (if such a thing exists)."
"The band is definitely based in bluegrass, but it doesn't sound like any traditional bluegrass band you've ever heard. Tracy Hui can definitely rock out on the banjo - a feat that not a lot of bands can manage."
"Jamming and performing everywhere from California to Cajun Country to rural Appalachia to America's heartland, these modern day troubadours are simultaneously preserving and invigorating the roots tradition with fresh and vibrant energy."
"The attractive duo/couple presented amazingly intricate versions of some fine Americana as well as their own well designed and appealing compositions. Their strong musical structure echoed great duo's of the past… they touched everyone who had the opportunity to share the special evening."
