I know you’re probably wondering, “Sure, Stormcloud makes a delicious and wonderful seasonal wheat beer that tastes like sunshine, but what the h*ck is up with the hot dogs?”

Great question. We ask ourselves that too.

Let’s rewind about a year.

During one of our most focused and productive marketing meetings to date, the leadership team sat around a table tossing out ideas of how to promote Sunrunnr Ale. Ideas of discounts and live music were flying around the table. Classic. Then, from the far end of the table, a voice…Brian’s voice, speaks up…

“What about… sun’s out, buns out?”

A slight pause. A few giggles at the idea. The kind of half-*ssed chuckles you give when you don’t know if someone is kidding around or not. The meeting continued on as normal with no further mention of this concept.

Little did Brian and Rick know when the meeting came to an end, the extremely dedicated and committed creative team gathered in the upstairs office to make this a reality. The company card came out. Hot dog costumes were purchased. None of the team thought to question this idea. Nobody thought “Should we?”

Fast forward to the event. Is this concept ‘Sun’s Out, Buns Out’ directly tied to Sunrunnr Ale in any way? Debatable. They both contain the word ‘sun’ and that worked for us.

Why stop with just beer and hot dog costumes?

The creative team asked each other the obvious next question, “How can we make this event EVEN COOLER?” The answer without any hesitation: ping pong, grilling, and a DJ.

We called up our friend DJ Jeshua Hyde to spin vinyl at the ‘Cloud again. To our surprise, he shows up in a hot dog costume that he had lying around his house and fully committed to our bit by becoming ‘DJ Wiener’ for the afternoon.

Regarding our party on Saturday April 18th, there will be $5 pints of Sunrunnr Ale. There will be vinyl spinning. There will be ping pong. And without a doubt, there will be hot dogs (ones off the grill and real-life human costume ones.)
